How it works

How to use Domain Age Checker

  1. 1

Type a domain name such as yourbusiness.com (a full URL works too).

  2. 2

We look up the live registry record through RDAP.

  3. 3

Check the age, expiry date and status codes; renew early if expiry is close.

About

About this tool

Domain Age Checker asks the domain's registry for its official record using RDAP, the modern, structured replacement for WHOIS. You get the registration date, the calendar age in years, months and days, the last update and the expiry date with days remaining, plus the registrar, EPP status codes and nameservers.

It's useful before buying an expired or second-hand domain, when checking whether a supplier or website is as established as it claims, and for making sure your own domains don't lapse. An expired domain takes your website and email offline and can be registered by someone else.

A note on SEO: Google has said domain age by itself isn't a ranking factor. Older domains often rank well because they have built up content and links over time, not because of their birthday. Set your own domains to auto-renew and keep the registrar contact email up to date so renewal reminders reach you.
