About

About this tool

Google doesn't cut titles and descriptions at a fixed number of characters. It truncates them by rendered width, so a title full of wide letters like W and M gets cut sooner than one with narrow letters. This preview measures your text in your browser using Arial at Google's sizes and shows where the '...' would fall on desktop and mobile.

Write your own title and description, or fetch them from a live URL and experiment with alternatives. The counters show characters and pixel width against typical limits of about 580px for titles and 920px (desktop) or 680px (mobile) for descriptions.

Remember that Google rewrites some titles and often picks its own description from the page when it better matches the search. A clear, specific, well-sized snippet gives yours the best chance of being shown as written, and a compelling one can lift your click-through rate without changing your ranking.
