How it works

How to use Colour Picker & Contrast Checker

  1. 1

Pick a colour: type it, use the picker or eyedropper, or click a pixel in an uploaded image.

  2. 2

Copy the format you need — HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV, OKLCH or CMYK.

  3. 3

Set a background to check WCAG contrast and apply the suggested passing colour if needed.

About

About this tool

Paste a colour in any format — hex, rgb(), hsl() or oklch() — pick one with the native picker, grab one from anywhere on your screen with the eyedropper (Chrome and Edge), or upload a logo or photo and click to sample a pixel. You get the same colour as HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV, OKLCH and CMYK, each ready to copy.

The contrast checker tests your colour against a background using the WCAG 2.2 formula. It shows the exact ratio and whether it passes AA and AAA for normal and large text, with a live preview so you can see the difference, not just read a number.

If a pair fails, the tool suggests the nearest passing colour: it keeps your hue and adjusts only the lightness, so your brand still looks like your brand. Accessible contrast helps people with low vision, anyone reading in bright sunlight — and it is increasingly a legal requirement for public-facing sites.
